Solar water tank heater element

Description

Solar water tank heater element is made according to the size of water in the water tank, temperature difference and heating time requirements, the power required is not the same.

Generally speaking, small power heater can be choosed cartridge heater, U type heater or other special-shaped electric heating element,big power can choose flange immersion heating element.

Solar water tank heater element is welded thread on the basis heating element, thread can be choose metric thread, pipe thread and so on.

Water tank heater element with thread  is generally used for heating liquid, and the material selection principle is generally recommended as follows:

★ Conventional heating water, stainless steel 304, stainless steel 321 recommended

★ Regular drinking water, stainless steel 316L recommended

★ With poor water quality, it is recommended to use stainless steel 316L, stainless steel 310S, Ingle 840/800 or stainless steel surface for anti-scale coating (liquid coating/electrostatic powder coating).

★ Corrosive liquid, please consult customer service, according to the specific chemical substances, choose stainless steel, titanium tube, teflon material, etc.

Solar water tank heater element is assembled by Horizontal or vertical.Normally we suggest using horizontal way,so that the heating section of the heater element can be immersed in the water to avoid burned out.If customer insist vertical assemble,we must consider the cold area design.

. When the solar water heater element is in "dry heating" condition in the water tank, the high-temperature heat generated by the heating tube is conducted to the connection parts of the water tank and repeatedly heated, which will damage the sealing ring (gasket), insulation layer and water tank. 

In a single solar hot water system, the "dry burn prevention" function of the auxiliary electric heating tubes may suffice with just the ability to "prevent continuous dry burning". That is, when the system is powered on to heat up in the absence of water or with insufficient water, it should be able to stop operating within a limited period before the consequences occur, and then power off for handling. Before the water shortage or lack of water is eliminated, regardless of the actions of the thermostat, the power supply will not be restored until the problem is resolved. Of course, if the system can be powered off once there is no water or insufficient water, or if there is no dry burning due to the absence of water (insufficient water), it would actually be a more thorough form of "dry burn prevention". Many control instruments on the market do have the function of power-off when there is no water (or insufficient water), but sometimes due to the instability of the sensors, the signal indicating no water (or insufficient water) becomes uncertain

Please be noted that the water tank must be stable,before assembling the heater element,be sure that the tank is stable.As unstable tank will easily Knock over, pour liquid,cause fire,burned out.

The heater element is important for the operation of the solar water tank,after long time,it will encounter several problems.Understanding the problems is helpful to  effective troubleshooting and maintenance.

Element Burnout: One of the issues is element burnout. This occurs when the heating element's resistance wire becomes too hot, causing it to fail. A burnt-out element typically requires replacement.

Electrical Issues: Faults in the electrical supply, such as inconsistent voltage or loose connections, can affect the performance of the heating elements. These issues might not only damage the elements but also pose a safety risk.

Corrosion: Corrosion will occur due to the chemical composition of the water or a breach in the protective sheath of the element.

Internal Short Circuit: This can happen due to wear and tear or manufacturing defects.
Incorrect Sizing: If the heating elements are not correctly sized for the solar water tank heater, they can be less effective, leading to inadequate heating.

How to replace the solar water heater element

1. First close the inlet valve and outlet valve of the solar water heater to ensure that the water flow will not affect the replacement process.

2. Remove the old heating element. There are two joints on the it, one is the connection of the water pipe, and the other is the connection of the solar collector tube. Use a wrench screwdriver to remove the screws and connecting the two joints one by one.

3.Install a new solar water heater element. Connect the new heater element to the water pipe and tighten the screw with a wrench to secure it. Then, connect the new heating element to the joint of the solar collector tube and tighten the screws.

4.Open the outlet valve, then open the inlet valve, and observe if the new heating element works normally.

5.After the inspection, clean all the tools and install all the removed screws and connectors back.

6.Check the new heater for water leakage. If so, close the outlet and inlet valves immediately, check for problems, and reinstall them.

7.After completion, check again whether the solar water heater works properly.
