Description
Double pole water heater thermostat works using the differential expansion of the sensing element which causes the opening of a snap-action switch in the rod thermostat head. In case of abnormal temperature rise, the patented double safety device acting on stem and on bimetallic disk or traditional bimetal ensures double pole safety.
The limiter is manually resettable. Double pole water heater thermostat is widely used worldwide to control water temperature thanks to their reliability and easy and quick plug-in installation which reduces mounting and wiring costs.
To provide process temperature control, we offers double pole, single throw (DPST) thermostats.Unless otherwise specified, thermostats are mounted inside the terminal enclosure. Please verify that the thermostat's sensing bulb outside diameter is compatible with the flange
heater's thermowell inside diameter.

When Should You Repair Your Water Heater Thermostat?
If you are noticing that the water coming out of your faucet isn't as hot as it once was, suspect a problem with the thermostat. A broken water heater thermostat can cause elevated electricity bills since an inefficient heating mechanism is constantly running. It also decreases the unit's lifespan, so be sure to check it at the first sign of trouble!
Your Water is Too Hot!
There's Not Enough Hot WaterWhen you first flip the circuit breaker on before turning on your hot water faucet, the electric current runs through two wires and completes a circuit to the heating mechanism of the water heater. If the thermostat isn't sensing that it is not hot enough, electricity will not run through those wires, and no heat will be produced.
Water Takes Too Long to ReheatWhen you turn on your hot water in the shower and it isn't hot within a few seconds, this is likely because the thermostat isn't allowing electricity to run through to the heating mechanism. Since there's no heat, the water takes longer than normal to reheat.
In the water heater thermostat, another wire will be connected to the heater element. Thermostat is like a switch, when the heat need to change mode, the double ends inside the thermostat will connect together. When the temperature reach the required level, the thermostat will close.
In the middle of the water heater thermostat, you can find the temperature control bottom, you can set the temperature 60 ℃,if any reason that cause the thermostat failure, the thermostat will continuously be on and go overheat.
To prevent the water from overheating up to 90° C (where the water will start to boil) the reset pin will pop out and disconnect the terminals in the thermostats. This means that the main immersion heater thermostat failed and you have to replace it.

How To Test Water Heater Thermostat
If you want to test Double Safety Water Heater Thermostat on an electric water heater, you will also need to check the heating element. This is important, especially as open and grounded heating elements result in inaccurate tests.
To look for faults, you will need to use a screwdriver. You will also need to check the water heater thermostat with digital multimeter tools. Now let us get started with the following steps on how to test a water heater with multimeter.
1. Move to the thermostat terminals and check if it is supplied with power. If it is, you will have a reading of 240V on terminals 1 and 3. But if there is no reading, check its power source. Also, check for current on the high limit switch.
2. Disable the lower thermostat by rotating its dial to the least setting. Next, turn up the temperature of the upper thermostat to look for faults.
3. Place the prongs of the multimeter on the terminal 1 and blue wire of the heating element. This will help you detect if power is supplied between the upper heating element and blue wire.
4. If the tool reads 240V that means there is power on the setup. Next place the prongs on terminal 2 and the blue wire of the heating element. But if there are no readings that means the thermostat is faulty.
5. Move to the lower thermostat on the heater. Adjust the dial on the upper thermostat to the minimum setting while you set the other thermostat to the highest level.
6. Head back to the terminal 1 and red wire of the bottom heating element. Place a probe on both of them to detect power. If it reads 240V, then there is power in the setup.
7. Place the probes on terminal 2 and red wire of the bottom heating element. If you have no readings, then you will need to swap the thermostat for a new one.
