The use of infrared ceramic heater was originally introduced in Japan during the 1970’s by Dr. Tadashi Ishikawa for medical purposes. The spectrum of heat they emit was found to be similar to that of hot stones in a Native American Indian sweat lodge, and have since been used in commercial sauna applications for more than 40 years.
