Mica band heater can attain a maximum sheath temperature up to 1000°F, but with different electrical termination styles, clamping mechanisms, and ability to accommodate holes and cutouts, mica band heaters are successfully used in many applications, but are mostly sought for in the plastics industry.It provide long,efficient service necessary for today's high productivity of plastic extruders,injection and blow molding machine.It play an important role in numerous industrial processes. They are ring-shaped heating devices that clamp themselves to a cylindrical element. It can be provided with built in thermocouple and nipples, holes and slots for external temperature sensors.Power supply can be connected by pre-assembled cables, connection boxes or contacts.
During the plastic extrusion molding process, the heating and temperature control of the extruder barrel are the key factors determining the quality of the products (such as melt uniformity, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties). The mica band heater, due to its high insulation strength, fast thermal response, and strong shape adaptability, has become the main heating solution for medium and high-temperature (200-400℃) extruders.
However, the particularities of the extruder's operation (such as barrel vibration, frictional heat generation of the materials, frequent start-stop cycles) impose strict requirements on the mica band heater: resistance to mechanical vibration fatigue, tolerance for local overheating (> 450℃), and stable insulation during long-term operation.
Based on the temperature of the extruder (200 - 400℃) and the corrosive environment, the material of mica band heater for extruder must meet three constraints: thermal resistance, acid resistance, and mechanical strength.

PVC/Flame-retardant ABS extrusion: Synthetic fluorine mica (resistant to HCl/HF corrosion);
Carbon black filling / High vibration conditions: Glass fiber reinforced mica (anti-wear + reinforcement)

- Apply glass fiber/epoxy resin composite coating on the surface of the resistance wire (thickness 0.05mm) to enhance wear resistance (wear rate reduced by 60%).
