Description
Ceramic band heater is made of micanite or ceramics covered with metal sheet, are used for contact heating in injection machines/extruders and for heating of containers, tanks etc.
The structure features are as follow:
The heating element inside the band is made by winding imported round wires then inserting it into ceramic coil rings. This design enables the heating element to distribute heat evenly, thereby improving the heating efficiency.
Outer cover material: stainless steel, it has excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance, ensuring the stable operation in harsh environments.
Insulation and heat preservation layer: high-temperature insulation and heat preservation cotton (such as silicate aluminum fiber board), which effectively prevents heat loss and improves heating efficiency while saving energy.
Ceramic strips: Made of high-frequency ceramic material, they feature rapid heat conduction, hardness and durability, resistance to cracking at high temperatures, and resistance to deformation and aging.

The working temperature of ceramic band heater for extruder can reach 600 degrees. The maximum surface loading rate is 8 w/cm ². It also features fast heating speed, high heat utilization rate, excellent energy-saving effect (energy consumption reduced by 30%), and high barrier rate.

When heating a material for the first time, the material temperatureshould be monitored with a temperature indicating device and thefinal drum heater control setting recorded for future reference. Thematerial should be mixed to get an accurate temperature since thematerial near the outside of the drum will heat faster than the material near the center. This initial set-up should be done with the threeheat switch set on high. If the material you are heating exhibitsexcellent heat receptivity you may maintain your desired temperature with the three heat switch set on medium or low, thus reducingpower consumption.

Maintenance method when ceramic band heater have problem.
1.If the ceramic band heater is broken:
Solution:Turn off the power, remove the wire of the band heater , and check whether the ceramic band heater is burned out with a multimeter,if yes,replace it immediately.
2.Contactor burned out:
Check if the control power supply of the contactor for the ceramic band heater have electric, check whether the contactor is loose, then turn off the power, tighten the connector with a screwdriver, if the connector is not wrong, it must the contactor is broken, replace it, pay attention to make a mark.
3.Short-circuit:
Check the circuit with the multimeter section by section, and replace it after finding the short circuit of the ceramic band heater, or reconnect it

Advantage

The external temperature of a ceramic band is approximately 400°F while the operating temperature can reach approximately 1400°F. Ceramic heater bands are manufactured with a stainless steel cover and are fiber insulated preventing heat loss making them highly energy efficient and reducing operating costs. The interlocking ceramics make these heaters flexible, less prone to expansion problems and with a good thermal conductivity, the fitting around a barrel is less critical than a Mica band.
