The differences between etching and winding processes for silicone heater
Depending on the different processes of the intermediate metal circuit layer, silicone heating elements can be classified as metal etching process heater and metal winding process heater. The two types of silicone heater each have their own advantages due to their respective processes:
In the metal etching process,silicone heater has an intermediate layer of developed and etched alloy thin film circuits. The resistance is generally small and it is not suitable for scenarios with significant bending. Thanks to the smooth and wide lines formed by the etching process, the silicone heating pad heats evenly and has excellent overall flatness. It is applied in fields such as 3D printers' heating beds, constant temperature in diagnostic and treatment equipment, and preheating and insulation of new energy battery packs.
In the metal winding process,silicone heater usually has a middle layer which is made of nickel-chromium-aluminum glass fiber winding wire. Nickel-chromium, nickel-chromium-aluminum, and nickel-chromium-iron alloys have high resistivity and high strength at high temperatures, and have good processing performance and weldability. They can be widely used as resistance materials in heating elements and electrical appliances in the metallurgy, household appliances, and mechanical manufacturing industries.
Compared with the metal etching process, the wire winding have a simpler manufacturing process and a higher cost performance. With our self-developed silicone wire winding machine, the production efficiency of this type silicone heating element has also been significantly improved, and it can be applied to mass production.
And wire winding type silicone heater can be bent to a considerable extent without the need to worry about circuit breakage. However, the etched heating circuits may experience circuit breakage after being bent significantly.
