Concerning the power of the mold cartridge heater,as different size,different temerature, so the power is different.

About mold heating, We suggest as many evenly arranged heating tubes as possible, and then match with temperature control, so as to achieve the desired temperature. 

 

If the length, width and height of the mold is confirmed ,we can determine the diameter and length of the mold heater, and according to these two parameters, we can determine the power of the mold cartridge heater.

 

The single power is confirmed,then multiplied by the number of arrangements ,we can know how much power the entire mold require.

 

Cartridge heater for mold  is used in heating tools in plastic process industry, leather and shoe making industry, paper industry and wood industry.

 

When using a cartridge heater for mold application, there are two key factors to ensure optimal results:

• Make sure the heater is sized correctly for the hole it's intended for

• Make sure the surfaces of the heater and hole are clean

 

If you're heating a solid mass, usually metal, you'll need a holein the material for a cartridge heater to be inserted into. Usually, it's easy to find a heater for a hole size you have. If a hole measures 0.500" across its inside diameter (ID) you'll want to use a 1/2" diameter cartridge heater.

 

Make sure the heater and inside of the hole are clean. This will enable the heater to be inserted into a hole without too much difficulty or excess force. Contamination will interfere with the heat transfer from the cartridge heater to the hole's surface.

Note:The gap between the heater and the mounting hole should not be too large:When the installation gap is too large, the heater and the mold are not close enough, heat on the heater surface can not be transferred to the metal, which will infect the life time of cartridge heaters.In addition, the heating time will be prolonged and will slow down the response time of the temperature control.It is recommended to use reamed holes on the mold to install cartridge heaters. If the temperature of the heating object is below 300℃ and does not require temperature precision, drill holes will do.

BUILT-IN THERMOCOUPLES   

One option of cartridge heater is built-in thermocouples. These thermocouples could be attached at the end or middle of the cartridge heater, grounded or ungrounded. Thermocouples could be type "J" or "K".

WELL SEALED AND MOISTURE PROOFING

In order to strengthen the product's sealing and prevent from moisture, Teflon lead wires could be used. Lead end is sealed with Epoxy, silicone or Teflon. Maximum temperature could reach 245 ℃ .

MATERIALS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE

If heaters are operating under extreme high temperature, Reheatek cartridges could be sealed by ceramic end cap with high temperature ceramic glue. Maximum temperature could reach 800℃ .

CUSTOM DISTRIBUTED WATTAGE

In some applications such as sealing or rubber molds, the two ends of a cartridge heater are usually colder than the middle. To solve this inconsistency and have a uniformly distributed heat source, cartridge heaters could be made to have higher wattages at the ends. 35/30/35 is a common wattage distribution.

CUSTOM NON-HEATING PARTS

Non-heating parts could be customized. Non-heating part length and position could be manufactured according to the applications to achieve best effect. No heat section could be in the middle or at the end of the cartridge heater.

OPTIONAL HEATING ZONES

Attention

1. The cartridge heating element should be determined according to the size of the aperture of the mould. For example, the aperture of the mould hole is 10mm, then the diameter of cartridge heater can be made to 9.8mm.

2. The length of the heating cartridge for mold is determined according to the length of the opening.

3. The heating rod material selection should be determined according to the working temperature of the mould.

 

Because there is a conduction time difference between the mold temperature and the surface temperature of the electric heating tube of the mold.

(1) When the mold temperature is 150 degrees, the surface temperature of cartridge heater may be about 300 degrees. At this time, the tube material of the electric heating tube of the mold shall choose the stainless steel 304 material with temperature resistance of 300 degrees.

 

(2) When the mold temperature is 200 degrees, the surface temperature of heating element may be about 400 degrees. At this time, the tube material of the electric heating tube of the mold should choose the stainless steel 321 material with temperature resistance of 500 degrees.

 

(3) When the mold temperature is 450 degrees, the surface temperature of cartridge heating rod may be 600 degrees. At this time, the tube material should use the stainless steel 310S material with temperature resistance of 700 degrees.
