Flanged immersion heater element is used in large containers such as oil storage tanks that have high pressure. It is bolted or welded to the unit to a matching flange that is welded to the outer wall and can have rectangular or round flanges. It can be custom designed for watt densities and power ratings with a wide selection of sheath materials.
It is made of u-shaped electric heat pipe and assembled on the flange cover, according to the different heating medium design specifications, and inserted into the heating material, a lot of heat energy gererated by the stainless steel pipe and conduct to the medium to rise up the temperature.It adopts stainless steel tube coat, modified magnesium oxide powder, high-performance nickel-chromium electrothermal alloy wire and other materials.
Electric immersion heaters, like most electric heating appliances, do consume a fair amount of energy. The energy consumption primarily depends on the wattage of the heater and the duration it is used.
While immersion heaters will consume a lot of electricity, there are ways to manage their energy efficiency. Using a timer to ensure the heater only runs when necessary can significantly reduce electricity consumption. Regular maintenance can also ensure it operates efficiently, preventing unnecessary energy use.
Oil heating or water heating always use flange type immersion heater. However, many users have found that the welding points between the heating tube and the flange tend to leak after long-term use. Some customers are puzzled , why the flanged immersion heater element doesn't leak at the beginning but starts to leak after a period of use. So, what should be done if the heating element leaks? Here is an explanation for you.
When manufacturing the flanged immersion heater element , the flange disc needs to be drilled first, and then the heating tube is welded into the hole. After welding, a pressure gauge is used to check if there is any air leakage at the welding point. Only after this is done will it be sent to the customer. When installing it, it is connected by the flange, and together with the sealing ring, so the heating tube will not leak.
If the flange type heating element is used for a long time, it may leak. The possible reasons are as follows
1.The heated corrosive liquid corroded the welding point.
2. During the working, it tends to shake, causing gaps at the welding points of the heating tube.
To prevent leakage ,our company has developed a solution. Two small flanges have been added on the other side of the main flange. One of them is welded onto the main flange, which is equivalent to double-layer welding of the flange. The other one is used to support the heating tubes and prevent significant vibrations.
Another solution is to weld a support frame on top of the water tank and the oil tank, which is used to fix the heating tubes and prevent significant vibrations.

This series of flanged immersion heater can be widely used in heating water, oil, air, nitrate solution, acid solution, alkali solution and low-melting point metals (aluminum, zinc, tin, Babbitt alloy). It has good heating efficiency, uniform temperature, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and good safety performance.
When producing the flanged immersion heater, thermal expansion, ablation, oxidation, creep and other effects should be considered to avoid failure due to deformation in normal work.The welding structure design shall conform to the relevant standards. The weld of the pressure element, especially the part in the container, should be small, and the location of the weld should be easy to check.
If the liquid is corrosive,the sheath should be selected by anti-corrosive material such as incoloy.
When the medium temperature reaches the process requirements of the set value, the control system according to the temperature sensor; After PID operation, the output power of the electric heater is adjusted to control the temperature of the resistive load of the stainless steel electric heating tube. The medium temperature uniformity, to meet the required requirements; When the immersion heaters are over temperature or low liquid level, the interlock protection device of the heating element immediately cuts off the heating power to avoid burning out the heating element and extend the service life.
To prevent dry burning,there are two connection way to prolong the using life.One is threaded connection, common specification size G1/2--2 inches; The second is flange connection. It is also commonly known as the flat flange connection. Common specifications size DN50mm--DN300mm.
Flanged immeriosn heater is mainly used in electric water heaters, electric boilers, solar energy systems, solar energy water tanks, chemical pools, bathing pools, swimming pools and other heating places. Connection mode can be flanged or threaded face seal.

Selection of flange installation and connection mode
1, screw fixed (threaded flange electric heat pipe)
There are two ways about thread fixing: one is the container holing, mother tooth circle welding on the container directly, directly to the threaded flange type of heating tube screw fixation on the tooth ring can, another one container is a bit thicker material, punching, heating tube through the heat with hexagonal nut and threaded pipe thread ban solid can be sealing ring (middle).
2, With female flange connection (plane flange type heating pipe)
After the user determines the parameters of the flange, configure the appropriate female flange, the flange and female flange are fixed by bolts, and fixed by sealing gaskets. If the sealing requirements are high, it can also be welded and sealed on the original basis.
In the using process of flange water heater element,sometimes we will find the water leakage situation ,it will not only affect the heating effiency and will threat the working environment and production .
The reason is as below:
The flange immersion heater itself have problem,for example ,the welding is not so firm,the material is not approved,it will cause the the heating tube and flange is not so firm,lead to the water leakage.
Too high temperature:In the working process,if the temperature is too high,the heating element will deformed,causing gap between the heating element and the flange,and cause the water leakage.
Flange connection damage: the sealing gasket or screw at the flange connection may suffer from wear and aging, which will lead to the flange connection is no longer sealed, resulting in water leakage.
